There are plenty of new ballet on Netflix titles to choose from. You can watch a documentary on ballet, or you can get a new take on a traditional ballet show.
Tiny Pretty Things is a ballet series that takes its inspiration from the book series of the same name. It follows a group of young dancers who want to become professional ballet dancers.
Tiny Pretty Things is a sexy murder mystery and ballet drama. The show’s lead character is Neveah Stroyer, a Black ballerina from Inglewood, California. She’s accepted into the Archer School of Ballet in Chicago, Illinois. As she adjusts to her new surroundings, she has to deal with racism and homophobia, as well as the stress of getting into a prestigious ballet school.
Another new title on Netflix is “Dancing on Glass.” This Netflix original movie follows two talented young ballet dancers as they audition for a music video choreographed by a famous ballet dancer. They face rejection and disapproval, but they have the courage to try their luck.
Unlike “Tiny Pretty Things,” “Dancing on Glass” is a narrative film. Sooni Taraporevala directed the film. He also composed music for the film. Featuring an ensemble cast of actors with ballet training, this Netflix original explores the complexities of ballet, including racial and ethnic diversity, and the iron-fisted resolve of its practitioners.
Also on Netflix, we’ve got “Yeh Ballet.” Streaming in February, this Netflix original film tells the story of two talented teenage boys from India who dream of becoming ballet dancers. Despite their humble backgrounds, they overcome all obstacles and go on to receive top-notch education at prestigious international ballet schools.
